Why I Don’t Use a Traditional Planner Anymore (and What I Use Instead)

I love planners. I have always loved planners. When I was homeschooled, I would religiously fill out my student planner and use all the stickers and fun doodads that come with planners. I continued to…

All absolutely necessary parts of my homeschool mo All absolutely necessary parts of my homeschool mom budget. Absolutely necessary.

What’s on your list of bills? Please tell me if I’m missing an important line item. 😜😆

Obviously, @mfwbooks made the cut.

Anyone else starting to think about the new year a Anyone else starting to think about the new year already? 🙋🏻‍♀️

I absolutely love planning and dreaming for a new year, but instead of focusing on goals for the year, I set those goals but then break them down into specific goals for each quarter.

When do you start your new year planning? What’s on your list of goals for the year?

I’ll be setting up a thankfulness tree for everyone to add leaves to each evening with what they’re thankful for.

And during our morning time together, we’ll be pulling from the @mfwbooks thankfulness unit in All Aboard the Animals Train for some activities and books, alongside some other Thanksgiving fun.

Can’t wait!

When you have so much on your plate, it’s easy to When you have so much on your plate, it’s easy to fall into a cycle of overwhelm. (Believe me, I know.)

These are some of the weird little things I do to keep myself sane and not feeling like I want to give up on work and homeschooling and everything else.

Comment SYSTEM if you’re ready for a better system to keep you out of the overwhelm cycle, too.
A little glimpse at my mother culture plans for fa A little glimpse at my mother culture plans for fall 🍁🍂✨

What I’m Reading:

- Let the Nations Be Glad! by John Piper
- The Mystery of the Holy Spirit by R.C. Sproul
- When Children Love to Learn by Elaine Cooper
- Educating the Wholehearted Child by Clay Clarkson
- The Light Princess by George MacDonald
- The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
- House of Dreams: The Life of L.M. Montgomery by Liz Rosenberg

What I’m Making:

- Knitting: I managed to finish one of my daughter’s Christmas stockings this summer and now I just need to finish the one remaining. These stockings are absolutely a labor of love, but I also enjoy that now, on my third time through, I’m beginning to get better at certain parts of the process.

- Watercolor: My 3yo daughter recently started showing a real interest in painting and has asked to paint most days for the last couple weeks. So I went ahead and purchased enough watercolor paints for the whole family, including myself, and am hoping to spend some time painting with her. This is a new endeavor for me, so I’m a complete newbie and have already learned a lot, just in purchasing the supplies.

Have you read any of the books on my list? I’d love to hear what you thought of them!
